Leader of one of Mexico's most powerful criminal gangs is killed when armed group burst in and opened fire

Francisco 'El Primo' Navarrete was one of six people killed an a shootout Friday in Veracruz, Mexico. Navarrete founded in October 2019 an online newspaper, Sol de Tierra Blanca. He allegedly oversaw a Veracruz cell tied to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Navarrete transmitted a live concert on Sol de Tierra Blanca's Facebook account when gunmen opened fire.
