Caroline Flack thought it would be good for her to leave LoveIsland

Caroline Flack thought leaving Love Island would help her work out some of the problems she was going through, says Laura Whitmore.

The 40 year old had been charged with assault by beating on her boyfriend Lewis Burton after being arrested in mid-December last year. Shortly after, she decided to quit the show, saying she didn't want to "detract attention from the upcoming series" as a result of the altercation. Now, the blonde-beauty has opened up about her last conversation with her TV presenter pal, revealing that Caroline actually thought it was best for her to leave the show.

Speaking on Frankie Bridge's Open Mind podcast, Laura explained: "I've never told anyone this, but one of the last things she told me is that: 'This is probably good that it's happened this way as I have a lot of things I need to deal with and work through.'" However, just two months later, on 15 February, Caroline was tragically found dead after taking her own life in her London apartment.

She hit her boyfriend with a lamp. That is physical abuse. ITV were restricted to how they could help. They kept her job at Love Island for her in the Summer. And besides, if he hit her, he would had been labelled a woman beater and forced into hiding. Can we say for certain they didn’t? And are the 2 comparable, one substance abuse, one mental health awaiting criminal prosecution and being abused online. I don’t think that they are comparable.
