The 62-year-old has hosted the Saturday morning show on BBC Radio Wales for five years. However, the former Countdown host confirmed this week that she has quit after the corporation introduced new social media guidelines.
Carol explained that she isn’t prepared to “lose her voice on social media”, “change” who she is or “lose the ability to express the strong beliefs” she holds about the “political turmoil” the country is currently in. She made the decision to leave and has since “wished” her listeners well and sent them “all the love in the world”.
The former Countdown host took to Instagram today to share an emotional thankyou message to her fans who have since supported her decision to leave the BBC Radio Wales. In the video she said: “I’ve just got home from as you can imagine a busy day and I want to say from my heart thankyou. “I am overwhelmed by all of your support, it’s just extraordinary. You know we’re all in this together and we will, we absolutely will make this right cos you are b****y marvellous. You are.”
Fans rushed to comment on the video and show support for Carol. One user said: “Thank you for using your platform to call out injustice, intolerance and plain nastiness”.Another commented: “It is so inspiring to see a celebrity use their status to speak up for what they believe and not listen to their agents and look nice and keep quiet. Well done.
