Three people were pulled from the water in the Castle Road area of Port Glasgow on Wednesday afternoon.
Mercy crews were called to the scene at around 2pm. One woman was then rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment. Her condition is currently unknown.An eyewitness said: "I saw the car hit the water and called the emergency services. One man jumped in and another guy was at the bottom of the rocks holding the door handle to stop the car drifting out."Apparently the car malfunctioned and couldn't stop.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2pm on Wednesday, officers were called to reports of a car in the water in the Castle Road area of Port Glasgow. Emergency services attended and three people were assisted out of the water. One person was treated by the ambulance service. Recovery was arranged."
