The government says the measure could further cut the number of smokers, especially among the young.

Canada's government is proposing putting health warnings on individual cigarettes in what would be a world-first way of tackling the habit.

She said the key target were young people who often access cigarettes "in social situations sidestepping the information printed on a package".Why US lags behind on graphic cigarette warnings She added that photo warnings on cigarette packets - introduced in Canada in 2001 - were no longer as effective as the government had hoped."Canada will now have the strongest health warning regime for cigarettes in the world," the foundation's CEO, Doug Roth was quoted as saying by Canada's CBC public broadcaster.

In 2020, more than four million Canadians were daily or occasional smokers, according to Statistics Canada.

Stupidity to the core. Liquor is much more harmful than cigarette. Why don't you dare to do so with liquor? Air in many cities is more polluted than smoking. Why no outcry about it? (I am non smoker)

It'll go up in a puff of smoke...

Its a ridiculous idea

😂

Oh good more gory adverts; most seems BS.

If cigarettes and tobacco are dangerous to health the Government should ban the sale completely. I smoke and I know the only way I could happily stop is if they were banned and no longer on sale. Naturally the £14Billion the government collects from tobacco tax prevents a ban.

No point. They've already been warned. How about a warning on cola drinks and big macs?

It wouldn't make a difference.

At this point, Canada should now no more selling cigarettes.

Canada mulls designing cigarettes with smoke that writes a warning as it rises in the air.

When you 'mull', does that make you a 'Muller'? So being a Muller, does that make you a Yogurt?

Japan lags behind other advanced countries when it comes to warnings of ill effects of smoking.

The Canadian government an investors would rather make more money from weed .

They do realise that each cigarette is set alight, right? Smokers don't really take the time to study the cigarette. They pretty much just remove it from packet & set it to burn. And then comes the first glorious inhale... (Ex-smoker. Occasionally miss it. Don't miss the expense)

very funny.

Way to make smoking look even more bad ass Canada

Oh, Why not in every Puff

Rather warn the public about that dictator PM of Canada. 100 Times more deadly !!!

Warmings on guns?

warnings on guns already?

We can out nanny your nanny state.

Something like that.

Oh really!!!! Useful initiative!! But people who are addicted to smoking!! Will they get refrained of being chain smoker?

About Time it was illegal To smoke from public, And definitely do not sell packets to anyone born from 2001.

'Ink can damage your health'.

What warning is going on weed?

clever, pushing the glasses industry 👍

Silly. In Australia they discuss which grotesque picture box tastes the best

Can’t they just smoke away the warnings?

do it
