An MP who has spoken openly about his own mental health issues has urged ITV to axe The Jeremy Kyle show for good.
, Dymond's fiancee Jane Callaghan said:"I know we split up a week ago but we were together for two years. He was still my fiancé. I still loved him."All previous episodes of the show have also been taken down from the channel's catch-up service, ITV Hub. Episodes will also not air on ITV2. "Societally, we have a responsibility for why this TV is made, it's a reflection of ourselves that it has been made and so many people watch it.Labour MP for Sunderland Central, Julie Elliott, agreed the programme should be culled:"I have grave concerns, and have had for some time, about the way shows like the Jeremy Kyle Show appear to exploit the most vulnerable in society.
"About a week before there was a lot of phone contact… with the production team… [they asked] is there anything you don't want to talk about or you do want to talk about? It was constant up until the recording. They talked you through everything step by step.""Once I left the studio the contact did kind of stop... but if I'd had any issues [maybe] it have carried on."
Mr Collins told the BBC that the DCMS select committee would be discussing what should be done to review the duty of care for people appearing in reality TV shows during a private meeting on Wednesday.A spokesperson for media watchdog Ofcom said:"This is clearly a very distressing case. Although we can only assess content that has been broadcast, we are discussing this programme with ITV as a priority to understand what took place.
This is great coming from the only MP to write a letter to accept a 11%pay rise .
So why is Love Island still allowed to air after 2 of their contestants committed suicide?

I am not fan of the show but it does a lot of good work with addicts and lost family members.
The Jeremy Kyle show was put on at 9:25 giving the chavs time to drop the kids off at school, go to asda for their fags, cider and crisps(for the kids tea). It should never come back it incited violence and animosity towards people.

Uk suicide rate is 16 per 100000. Jeremy Kyle's guests suicide rate is around 3 per 100000 (3320 shows, average 10 guests per show). Statistically non guests more likely to commit suicide jeremykyle

Only saw a few minutes of the show a couple of times, it was rubbish but, as far as I know, people appear on the show by choice. Also, the death didn't occur immediately but a week later and after over 10 years I believe this has been the first death, so let's not over react!
