Norton recently announced he would be stepping down as crime-solving clergyman Sidney Chambers after the fourth season of the hit drama, and now it has been revealed Brittney, who has also appeared in Outlander, will join the cast as Reverend Will Davenport.Credit: PA:Press Association

Norton added: "As excited as I am to be filming a new series of Grantchester, it’s also heartbreaking to be saying goodbye to Sidney Chambers. I’ve loved this experience, and particularly working with such an extraordinary cast and crew. Grantchester has become an international hit since the TV series first hit screens in the UK in 2015.
