Fashion retail, like many industries has been hit hard by the pandemic and not just because non essential retailers had to close their doors back in March.
The cancellation of orders has resulted in economic disaster for the factories and financial hardship for factory workers. While brands were trying to financially stabilise their own businesses, garment workers were about to pay the price and no orders would mean huge lay offs from factories as there would be no work.
Many of you would have read about Lost Stock when we first reported on the amazing initiative set up by fashion shopping app Mallzee several weeks ago. Lost Stock have so far sold almost 100,000 boxes over the past five weeks and with the launch of the children’s box, it is hoped that they will be able to support another 100,000 Bangladeshi families in the coming month.
