British Council worker jailed in Iran used as a 'bargaining chip', her fiance says

Ms Amiri has worked for the British Council for five years, a government-founded body which promotes culture and education. She had been helping to build a greater appreciation of Iranian culture in the UK.

Speaking on the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme, Mr Tyson said Ms Amiri and her family had initially tried to overturn the conviction through"official channels" - but now believe it is"actually a problem between the UK and Iran". "And using Aras in this way as a bargaining chip or hostage of some kind to try get what they want, some advantage in their relationships with the UK."James Tyson gave his first broadcast interview to the BBC after his fiance's appeal was rejected

He urged the UK government to talk to the Iranian government, adding:"It involves listening on both sides".Aras Amiri was put in solitary confinement at some points during her detainment

This is genuinely very sad for them both but - and it's quite a big 'but' - if (Against FCO advice) you travel to a country that falsely imprisons people & uses them as political pawns then you run the risk of being falsely imprisoned & used as a political pawn.

Iran...climbing up the shithole country charts.

And Boris will sit back and do sweet f all.

Sad case, however why would you risk going to Iran against firm Foreign Office advice and risk visiting .

Opinion: Will next week’s G7 Summit finally see the penny drop on the failed Iran nuclear deal? The security threat Iran poses to both regional and international security is real and urgent. Attempting to ignore reality and revive the failed nuclear agreement with little more than warm words is not the way to combat the issue Failed It was working just fine, till Trumpet showed up 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Dear admin, Majid Rafizadeh is an MKO supporter. Up until several years ago, the MKO were listed as a terrorist organization for their collaboration with Saddam. You really should not allow articles by this person or any others affiliated with an Islamic Marxist terrorist group. Christian_B Dear Mr Broughton, you edit the finest paper in the English language. Surely it is beneath you, of all people, to publish MEK propaganda, when no other respectable outlet will even take them seriously. That they are a terrorist cult is a matter of concensus.
