Newcastle- 53,767Despite being the least affected in the top ten, Glasgow Council received the highest number of pothole damage claims between 2018 and 2021, with over three and a half thousand.
Surprisingly, in spite of the almost 200,000 potholes in the area, Northumberland Council ranked ninth out of ten in damage claims, with only 1,174. The stats do, though, paint a depressing picture for anyone who does suffer pothole damage, with only a tiny minority of claims compensated.Some areas are better, however, with Wiltshire Council paying out on almost half of their near 1500 claims.
Indeed, pothole sufferers in Suffolk are in luck as, due to delays in compensation payments from previous years, in the four year record period, they actually paid out over 200 more claims than they received.These include leaving a good distance between your vehicle and the one in front, slowing down and being cautious of cyclists near potholes.
