UK government urged to classify leisure centres 'essential' or face mass closuresThe government has been urged to reclassify swimming pools, gyms and leisure centres as ‘essential services’ or face the prospect of thousands of facilities being shut permanently if a second lockdown is introduced They shouldn’t be threatened with closing again. The last lockdown was an unmitigated disaster. It didn’t work and was completely disproportionate to the actual risk. How on earth can leisure centres or gyms be regarded as ‘essential’.
