Burial ground in Bridgend holding 2,000 bodies on sale to developers

"There are a lot of people buried in that little bit of land - 2,000 according to the burial register," said historian Louvain Rees said."There are just three gravestones, and they've been put up by the fence. But there are a lot of people, not just one person in one grave.

Initially, the collective site was known as "Glamorgan County Lunatic Asylum". Ms Rees and Anthony Rhys are writing a book about life at the site titledShe said many men were treated there for general paresis, caused by syphilis, while women with post-natal depression were sent there as well as children with Down's Syndrome.Estate agents describe the land as "within the highly sought-after village of Coity", 1.

While wooden crosses no longer remain, Ms Rees said she believed any proposed development would bring objections from those with relatives there.Watts & Morgan's Dyfed Miles acknowledged that could happen, adding: "We have never marketed a piece of ground like this before."It's not consecrated ground and we understand visitors pay respects to family members and friends."

Surely there can't be much resale value on old dead bodies.

10 years in jail for defacing a statue of a racist. Yet exhuming bodies for profit is ok.

I heard it’s a dead good area there. People been dying for years to get there……

What in the world?

Honestly, have they not seen poltergeist

This has all the makings of a Stephen King blockbuster...

Outrageous is nothing sacred even a cemetry

People need to stop having kids at such an exponential rate in the Uk. There just isn't enough land for houses or crops.

Puts a new meaning on a 2 up 2 down

Bridgend over troubled haunters..?

Is nothing sacred? They bang on about climate change, how about stop building over green spaces 🙄

If we are starting to sell burial grounds where does it stop. Graveyards will be being sold more nationally. Some of these plots will be modern graves and historical ones.

Crazy idea, why not use it as a cemetery. Aren’t we supposed to be running out of burial plots?

No one seen poltergeist? hotseller

BAD!

Disgusting! It was designated a burial ground and should remain as such! They'll remove the remains and bury them in one communal plot! Yes I also believe that 'activity' of an unexplained nature will occur in any property built here, bizarre I know, but it does happen!

Words can neither qualify nor quantify how helpful your guidance and advice has been. I am forever grateful for your support.Thank you MALYAROVALARA_ I just received my profit in my wallet thanks you very much
