Conservative MP Steve Baker apologises for some of the UK's behaviour towards Ireland and the EU during the Brexit process

Much of the discussion centred around the Northern Ireland Protocol,

"As a unionist said to me they have seen constitutional change without their consent through the protocol," he added. "But now's the time to really move on and accept the Belfast/GFA agreement as the fundamental fact which brings peace and enables government in Northern Ireland." "I want to accept and acknowledge that I and others didn't always behave in a way that encouraged Ireland and the EU to trust us to accept that they have legitimate interests, legitimate interests that we're willing to respect - because they do and we are willing to respect them," he said.

Will be getting his P45 soon

mckenp When they say they have a problem with the thing they all agreed with, they actually have a problem with the Good Friday Agreement. They always have.

What are they up too? Because you can NeverTrustATory (even if they are frightening for their political survival)

Mr Biden's men having a wee word me thinks!

What’s not ‘acceptable’ SteveBakerHW is NI has no working government as a direct result of a type Brexit the Conservative Party chose. Given the majority in NI voted against Brexit they have a responsibility to go the extra mile to find an agreement that suits both sides.

Did his lips move?

Steve Baker and the arrogance towards the Irish from his ERG friends will not be forgotten. His apologies are meaningless.

Remember you and your so called Government wanted Brexit and signed the Protocol deal with EU. Ireland and EU did nothing wrong. All the disruption is caused by the Tories.
