The Prime Minister broke into halting Deutsche as he stood next to Mrs Merkel\u0027s in the Chancellery - the equivalent of 10 Downing Street. Mr Johnson said: 'We want a deal and we expect a deal and I think we\u0027re going to get one,' Mr Johnson said.
I thought the backstop was an EU demand so is it not their problem not ours shouldn’t Boris be giving them 30 days to come up with a solution another weak PM it seems
Why is it Mrs M sets the deadlne? The EU will not shift. The only option left appears to be “Leave on WTO”.
I think you'll find that Merkel was talking about finding solutions to avoid invoking the backstop (ie political declaration). She wasn't inferring that the WA could be renegotiated.
She opened a door that will slap shut Johnson in the face. She knows that what has not been delivered in 3 years won’t be delivered within the next 30 days. She outsmarted Johnson.
