Govt has 'no red lines' in Brexit talks with Labour - Hammond

Shadow home secretary Diane Abbott said:"We engaged in these talks in good faith. Keir Starmer has written to the government to say he wants to continue the talks, so in that sense they are going on.She added:"The government perhaps has to show a little more flexibility than it seems to have done so far."Downing Street said serious proposals had been made and it was prepared to change the wording of the deal to reach a compromise.

Mr Hammond is not part of the negotiating team and while he may have an open mind to the talks, others in the cabinet will want the government's red lines to remain as indelible as ever.Speaking to Sky News earlier in the week, one government source said efforts were under way behind the scenes to stop negotiators agreeing to the key Labour demand of a customs union.

Coalition with the parliamentary opposition to defeat her own party and the referendum result is not a good legacy... any joint plan has to include the toxic WA.

PhilipHammondUK referred to European Union's Brexit negotiators as the enemy. Also increased National Insurance contributions for self-employed pay, despite Conservatives making manifesto pledge at the 2015 election not too. He is the unacceptable face of Conservatives Get rid

Guy is a Tory liar

You can't fight a war when the likes of PhilipHammondUK are pointing their guns in the wrong bloody direction This guy has so many vested interests that he should never have been allowed to become an MP and certainly not in the cabinet having influence over brexit

That Hammond reptile needs to be deselected.

There are 4 red lined the British voting public voted for no cu no Sm no ecj juristiction and ending the bigotry of freedom of movement

Who are these children you call 'political commentators'. They look like their mothers just packed them off to school with a packed lunch.

No deal cheaper in the long run😉

There should be 1 red line, NO to 2nd referendum

Rubbish

Well they ruddy well ought to have or we'll be remaining! Wouldn't surprise me at all if this whole debacle was working out exactly as planned by those-who-know-best😟

So why are they sticking to their red lines?

I think we all know that Hammond has one red line. That Brexit is not allowed to go ahead.

Has he forgotten that we voted to take back control of laws borders money courts & trade? PhilipHammondUK The red line is full UK independence posturing politicians playing politics with the referendum result continue to show their distain for the electorate.

How is Hammond still in government the prick is a joke

Really?

They have swapped them for trenches full of bear traps.

No principles or honour either

And that's kind of the problem, and the reason why everyone has no respect for our leaders.

If we must leave, at least let us keep our right to free movement of goods, services, capital and people.

You cross red lines, you ignore democracy, you tell us what you think is best for the UK, you think we don't know what we voted for, you become an authoritarian state, you make us a laughing stock no better than North Korea, you become our dictators. Guess what 🔥🔥🔥🔥

He wouldn’t have clue he’s just a nodding dog sitting behind the PM agreeing with everything she says 😬😬😬

Hammond seems to be a Labour MP in disguise.

Then bloody well get on with it 😤😤😤😤

17.4 million people have. To leave. And those 17.4 million and growing will be throwing the two main parties out come an election. cheated

All the Conservatives do everday is lie.
