Quotes from Ross Brawn back in 2019 have resurfaced, warning teams 'if you fraudulently breach the financial regulations, you will be losing your championship.' F1

Mark ScottFormula 1 boss Ross Brawn has warned the new financial regulations “have teeth” and will bite teams if they fall foul of the 2021 rules.following unanimous agreement from all parties, a $175m, fully enforceable cost cap will be introduced in the hope that success will be dependent on how teams spend their money rather how much they spend.

“We’ve tried for these in the past, and we’ve not been successful. I think the crucial thing about the financial regulations now is that they are part of the FIA regulations. “But this has teeth. If you fraudulently breach the financial regulations, you will be losing your championship. So it has serious consequences if teams breach these regulations.”

And guess what team voted against sporting punishments for breaking the budget cap. Luckily there were 7 more teams to slap them down. BYW Ferrari were one of the 3 who voted against meaning 2 teams who are completely separated voted the same way... CostCappen

Way to put this out there before anything is released. F1 media has about as many scruples as Hamilton has wins this year.

As previously communicated, there has been significant and unfounded speculation and conjecture in relation to this matter, and FIA reiterates that until it is finalized no further information will be provided,' the writing concludes.

Would that he’d speak up now then.

.F1_Jordan is goated for this!!!!

Fraudulently being the important word

They should have champion taken off them, but now days FIA make rules up as they go along. maybe some people in FIA received some of that 10M over spend

But this is 2022.

Key word is fraudulently. That means someone was caught underrepresenting what they spent.

Remember, there’s no confirmed breach of anything. All we have a is a PR Molotov cocktail thrown by a conspicuously absent Toto Wolf.

***Unless you are Red Bull

fia do the right thing

What Ross Brawn said is totally irrelevant. What the teams agreed on in the regulations is important. Give up your pathetic endeavor to make Lewis 8 times champion. If he wants that, he will have to beat the others on track! 😉

How can some people say that its a misinterpretation of the rules 🤔 the rule is all teams are given a figure to spend on their car and must not exceed that figure if a team exceeds that figure then they have broke the rules you can't get the rule much simpler than that 👍

So this basically proves that the FIA treat RB differently if they don’t disqualify them for breaching the budget cap (if they did)

That was before they knew it would be Red Bull

fia ignored rules from the last several decades…so 🤷🏼‍♂️ f1 fua f1 F1xed CostCapScandal costcap HumanErrorChampion

Amazing how many Hamilton fans have access to Red Bull’s accounts.

Constructors then

The key word here being (fraudulently). Because they are new rules, they can be interpreted differently

Poor Ross will go on extended sick leave now

Pity Ross wasn't so rules conscious at Ferrari

edascedes But will the FIA enforce the rules when it comes to Red Bull ? CostcappenScandal F1xed

And here is Hemlut marko fully admitting they've overspent to the tune of $10 million. Let's watch the cover up unfold.

Thing is why did it took FIA to understand the issue into the 9th month of 2022? The season ended in 2021 so it should have been solved before the start of 2022 season

The FIA have already admitted that the title deciding race result was changed by a misapplication of the rules, and not corrected their own error. Even if there was a massive breach expected it would be swept under the carpet and a slapped wrist to be applied.

Enforce it.

The only fitting punishment for 'material' budget cap breach is losing R&D timeDenying a guilty team R&D time and the money for it is the only way to undo ill-gotten gains that could last for seasons. That and excluding trophies from them. The punishment should be severe enough, when McLaren stole Ferrari IP rights they lost their right to compete for a championship, same should happen. So now so called F1 journalists are writing pieces on, and deciding the penalties on what is a rumor? British BS
