A 14 year-old boy has earned almost $200,000 just by playing computer game Fortnite online.
Griffin Spikoski earned the cool sum as a professional online athlete with Misfits Gaming, an Esports league that features the some of the bestSpikoski, known as ‘Sceptic’ online, said he plays the game for eight hours on an average week, after he finishes his classes online at his Long Island, New York home. On the weekends he plays up to 18 hours per day.
Spikoski’s video amassed 7.5 million views and the teen began make money from subscribers and YouTube advertisers.Now, he has more than 1 million subscribers and has made appearances for Samsung, PGA, and the Miami Heat.Griffin plays the game for eight hours on weekdays, but on the weekends he said he may spend up to 18 hours playing. The Spikoskis created Sceptic Gaming Inc. and hired a financial adviser and an accountant once their son began earning an income.
‘I want parents to know that, you know, if their kids do enjoy playing games and they have a passion for it and they’re really good at it, they should treat it as any other sport,’ the teen said.Advertisement
