Boris Johnson will give the final go-ahead to the first phase of the controversial HS2 high speed rail link early this week – despite fears over spiralling costs and strong opposition from at least 60 Tory MPs.
HTf can anything cost £106bn?
HS2 will be built to Birmingham and then abandoned due to cost or some other bs. If there was any interest at all in bringing closer links to northern England, then HS2 work would start there.
What people fail to look at is we don't live in a bubble. Foreign and inward investment goes else where if they deem a country aren't capable of doing large scale infrastructure projects especially if we are now in competition with other European countries after Brexit.
I know he's mad to leave a legacy...but like his garden bridge project...scrap it now before there's absolutely no justification for the expenditure.
I think it is important to put aside, from day one, any feeling of apprehension by convening gallantry and advocacy to the PM's drive towards rich success!

Thank goodness. This is absolutely vital to combat the capacity issues on some massively congested routes.

Thank goodness, this project is vital for meeting our carbon neutral target as it will create a massive impact in rail travel boosting parts of the network by a factor of 3 & reducing short distance flights & distance road use. Failure to deliver makes Britain a laughing stock
