Boris Johnson restates pledge to boost UK coronavirus testing capacity

Boris Johnson has promised again to ramp up capacity to test for coronavirus, amid a blame game over why small private laboratories across the country have not been enlisted in a “Dunkirk” approach.

Matt Hancock's pledge today: '100,000 tests a day at the end of April' Made on the day less than 3000 NHS staff has been tested so far. Pick a bigger target further away in the future. Tried & tested technique to avoid scrutiny of past & present (non)action. Sad journalism.

If we have tested 135,000 people in the UK, there are clearly tests available, so get some more where you got the last lot from and get the NHS staff tested. 2,000 tests after two weeks of lockdown is bloody embarrassing

Germany already test over 50,000 cases per day. They surpass South Korea. And pay 5,000 euro per family to self-employed, freelancer and small business that hire under 5 persons. But what does Boris cabinet do? When did he announce they will test 25,000 cases per day?

Don't know why but have the impression that he is silently pursuing his 'herd immunity' agenda he pledged on day one. BBC news stated that only 2k health staff has been tested so far. Given the lack of testing and the number of asymptomatic positives I guess the strategy is clear
