Bonfire Night carnage as petrol bombs thrown at police in mass riot in Edinburgh

Shocking drone footage has captured the moment reckless yobs lobbed petrol bombs and fireworks at police officers.

Several rockets are launched in their direction with others hitting nearby properties and parked cars. The line of police then charges towards the gang of youths, resulting in some running away. They then resume their line of defence across the roadway as the firework onslaught continues.A statement from Police Scotland said: “We are currently dealing with an incident of significant disorder in the Hay Avenue area of Edinburgh, which began around 4.40pm this afternoon.
