Scottish SPCA officers have launched an investigation into the canine's death.

The grim discovery was made on Monday, July 25 near Niddry Burn, opposite the Jack Kane Centre, in Edinburgh. Scottish SPCA officers believe the pooch - who was found with a tennis ball - to be a Corgi cross.

The dog is described as male, with light brown fur and dark brown patches around his face. The charity has launched an investigation into the dog's death and are appealing to anybody with information to come forward. “Given the condition of the body, we think the dog may have been there for a few days. The dog was wearing a purple collar and there was a green tennis ball in the bag.
