A BLIND student was found hanged in her university room with her loyal guide dog by her side.
After gaining entry, security found Jade's guide dog Toffee pacing up and down her dorm room, reportedSecurity arrived just five minutes after Jade sent out a final distressing message, making it too late to be able to save her. Jade's father, Brian Clements, said: “After her death, we decided to raise funds for the charity Guide Dogs as they had supported her with Toffee.“Toffee was part of her life and we just couldn’t give him back. He now lives with Jade’s brother, Luke.”The inquest also heard that the 24-year-old, from Godalming, Surrey, was dealing with some health issues prior to her tragic end, as well as a relationship break up.
Her health issues meant she had spent several days away from university before deciding to stay on campus for Easter holidays.Risk assessment coordinator Tonya Bobmanuel knocked on Jade's door after concerns were raised about the student.
