The World Fireworks Championships will return to Blackpool's seafront once again in 2023. The phenomenally-popular trio of events will take place Saturday, September 16, Saturday, September 30 and Friday, October 20.
For three nights in autumn, the resort's skies will glow in technicolour as the stunning displays, which are choreographed to music. The displays will take place on the beach in front of The Blackpool Tower and are free to attend. Thousands of visitors are expected to line the promenade top catch a glimpse of the colourful pyrotechnics and rockets, as three countries battle it out for the coveted crown. In 2022, each of the events attracted more than 50,000 spectators to the Tower Festival Headland.Wales rocketed to the title last year, beating off competition from fellow finalists Finland and Barbados. Details of countries competing in 2023 will be announced in the coming months.
Counsellor Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: "World Fireworks Championship Blackpool is one of the most popular events in our autumn calendar. These are free family events and prove enormously popular with residents and visitors alike. We can’t wait to bring this magnificent spectacle back to the seafront later this year.”
The World Fireworks Championships are a key part of the seaside town's packed tourism and entertainment offering this year, and join the annual Air Show on August 12 and 13, Ride The Lights on August 29, the Illuminations Switch-On extravaganza on September 1 and the Lightpool Festival from October 20 to 28.READ NEXT:
