From the Tower to The Big One, Blackpool is famous for many things - but the Illuminations has to be its most well-known attraction. This year the annual light display will run from September 1 until January 1, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to catch them.
This year as part of the celebrations there will be the Nickelodeon Grand Parade along the Golden Mile, featuring kids’ favourite characters including SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol. Now it’s the turn of singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this year and has just released a brand new studio album. The star will perform three of her songs and will pull the switch for the lights.
How long does it take to drive through Blackpool Illuminations? This depends on the night you visit the Illuminations as weekends are busier than during the week. The best way to see them is by foot, allowing you to cut out any traffic.
