The annual light show will spark into life on Friday, September 1 with a live Switch-on event and stay shining until until Monday January, 1, 2024. Millions are expected to visit the seaside resort and soak in the delights of the six-mile illuminations, which have been a fixture on the Promenade and Golden Mile since 1879.
During that period, between November 18 to January 2, more than 6 millions people visited Blackpool to make the most of the free ice skating rink, marvel at light show projections and simulated snowfall and enjoy festive-themed rides. The footfall was an encouraging 10 per cent increase compared to the 2021 event.
"All of the statistical and anecdotal evidence from tourism businesses, with some reporting record levels of trading during the winter months, suggests that we have found a winning formula to extend Blackpool’s season. That is something we very much want to sustain and build upon.”
