No 1 Parkgate is one of the beautiful white buildings in Parkgate. Centuries ago this picturesque village was a thriving port on the Dee, serving as Cheshire's gateway to Ireland.
No 1 Parkgate opened its doors just over a year ago. And we were just in time grabbing a table by the window as we perused the menu. The breakfast selection is small but tasty offering, among other things, a signature granola, with maple syrup, yoghurt and macerated berries for £6, eggs - poached, fried or scrambled on toasted sourdough for £6.50, or French toast with maple syrup, smoked bacon or berries for £8.
The delicious sauce on my florentine lifted the bed of slightly bitter cooked spinach the eggs sat on. The eggs themselves were gently poached, the golden yolks spilling and mixing beautifully with the delicious sauce when I cut into them.
