Bibaa and Nicole deserved so much better - a 'sorry' doesn't cut it

The CPS has said that their conduct fell way below that expected of police officers. Well, I will go further than that and say that their conduct fell way below that expected of human beings. And if some people dare to make the defence that some of the 40 police officers reported it, I say it is just not good enough.

And if the police want to build trust, then dismiss the officers who think a police badge gives themselves permission to treat people as less than human. Too often those at the very top of the police service seem to understand that their priority is to protect the police, not the public. It is time us citizens are their priority. And if it means clearing out rogue police officers then so be it.

At the end of the day an apology isn’t going to change the system, an apology won’t make streets safer for women and an apology won’t stop the discrimination of Black African Caribbean people.
