Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy told a jury that prison has changed him as a person after previously finding it 'so easy' to meet women and have sex. Mr Mendy, 28, is on trial accused of rape and sexual assault, allegations he denies.
The jury heard that parties were held in 2019, 2020 and last year at Mr Mendy's home in Prestbury, Cheshire, where the sexual offences are alleged to have taken place. The parties continued after Mr Mendy had been questioned by police about allegations made by women, the court heard. Asked what his attitude would be if a woman did not want to have sex with him, Mr Mendy said: "I would be fine, I accept it and I stop." His barrister Eleanor Laws KC asked Mr Mendy about having sex with different women on the same night.
Ms Laws asked him: "What do you think now about the way you were treating women in particular?" He replied: "I didn't know I could hurt their feelings if we was both okay to have sex." "So it teached me the value of money." Speaking of prison, he added: "At the same time, I was sad, upset to go in there, but at the same time I learned a lot of things about life."
