Living costs in the UK are not expected to return to their 2021 levels in real terms until 2027

A new study has revealed that Belfast is one of the most expensive cities in the UK for those who live alone.

Data collected by Stokemont has ranked Northern Ireland's capital as the sixth most expensive city to live in, coming in behind the likes of London, Bristol and Edinburgh.A spokesperson for Stokemont said: "As it stands, living costs in the UK are not expected to return to their 2021 levels in real terms until 2027.

"For those seeking to live alone at such a time, chartered surveyors Stokemont analysed the rent and utility costs of the 20 biggest cities in the UK to find out just how much your personal space is valued at in 2023." Therefore the estimated monthly living cost for one person in the city centre including rent came in at £1,567, only £38 less than Leeds in fifth place.
