A North Belfast youth club which provides a safe space for hundreds of young people, has shared frustrations at years of waiting for a new centre.
Planning permission was granted for the project in 2019, after the club was awarded funding from the Department of Education to develop a new youth centre building on the current site. "Every day, young people and staff team create wonders in our current derelict building. Surely, young people deserve better treatment than this."
Stephen Konrad, who works with Ardoyne Youth Club said that a new centre would mean providing a safe space for young people to socialise, access further resources, engage in educational and recreational activities, receive support and guidance, and build a stronger sense of community. "Community Engagement: It fosters community cohesion by bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds and providing a platform for community involvement and collaboration.
"Overall, a new youth centre has the potential to make a significant positive impact on the lives of young people and the community as a whole.
