A Nottingham woman who will celebrate her 100th birthday has asked for people to donate to a charity instead of bringing her presents following her son's death. Kathleen Ford will celebrate her milestone birthday on Tuesday, March 19.
Despite the tragic event and other challenges, such as cancer and hearing problems, Kathleen enjoyed her life as much as she could over the years, having even gone on regular trips to the Victoria Centre in Nottingham with her daughter up until her fall a year ago. Kathleen moved to Nottingham when she was eight-years-old after living in both Penarth and Cardiff in Wales.
Catherine said: "She's lived in Nottingham most of her life and she's always loved it. She loves the parks, especially Wollaton, and the city centre and going out to Radcliffe." One of her five grandchildren, Michelle Goodisson, revealed Kathleen's secret to living to the impressive age. She said: "Her motto has always been 'look forward, not back' and 'don’t restrict yourself with anything, if you want a chocolate have one but just do everything in moderation, don’t go overboard'.
