After the stunning aurora borealis skies above Greater Manchester on Friday night, watchers hoping for a repeat show stayed up to gaze up on Saturday night.
Forecasts predict the 'potential' to see the Northern Lights again on Sunday night into Monday morning, although cloud cover is once again expected to 'hinder some'. Pink and green bands of light were seen across the UK and Europe on Friday night, with sightings in the UK as far south as Suffolk, and Greater Manchester didn't miss out.Here, watchers shared beautiful photos of the Northern Lights, from Wigan to Oldham, Rochdale to Altrincham, on Friday night.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said on Saturday: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to break out on Sunday morning, most likely across southwest England and Wales, but possibly also across western Northern Ireland too. They’ll track steadily north through the afternoon whilst probably growing into larger clumps of rain before clearing Scotland overnight.
