BBC 'played a part' in contributing to Labour's election defeat, says shadow cabinet minister - live news

Andy McDonald, the shadow transport secretary, told the Today programme this morning that he thought the BBC was partly to blame for Labour’s defeat at the election. In an interview with Justin Webb, McDonald said: Don’t get me started on the media, Justin. I’m very worried about our public service broadcaster. When Webb asked him if he was blaming the BBC for the fact that Jeremy Corbyn did not win, McDonald replied: I am saying that they played a part. I’m really worried about the drift.

Criticism of Israel 🇮🇱 equals anti Semitism says Johnathan freedman

The bbc and a certain newspaper obsessed with fake anti Semitism wonder who that could be

Grasping at straws—any excuse except their own inadequacies.

Almost all media, Corbyn & his coterie & snobbery got us here.

Yeah, Corbyn had nothing to do with rejection

The Tories have been in power about 50% more time than labour. The conservative bias of the media, including the BBC, is a huge factor in the hegemony. UKLabour certainly played a part in its failure - one of them the historical failure to reform the media!

Q: What will the World look like after 'President Boris' negotiates his position, unchalleneged, over the Christmas recess? This is the problem with a presidential-style election campaign. ITV BBC Channel4 Newspapers All the same!

LOL, yeah, they didn't provide enough propaganda supporting labour

And the Guardian

The Guardian 'played it's part' as well.

The delusion is real with the Corbyn cult. But it's good, because it means Labour will be out of power for a generation

What about the weather?😱

Nice one

Totally agree

Whilst BBC is supposed to be impartial, political bias towards Tories by some of their presenters was evident during election. Labour's defeat, however, was down to Corbyn and his advisers. They were a disaster and should all resign now!

Yes indeed, your hands are also filthy at the guardian too, we see you all

Unbelievable.. Jeremy Corbyn is blaming everyone now the BBC for his catastrophic election defeat.. who is next the Jews Anyone in the shadow cabinet should NOT be next leader..you are all responsible. Ditch momentum keep them keep losing

Hilarious isn't it... almost in unison the Tories allegedly boycotting Today because the BBC were biased against them. When you are the BBC you can't please any of the politicians, any of the time. Each side only capable of hearing itself being challenged as 'bias'. Grow.up.

Move on, move on, move on

The BBC were showing acres more Labour events than the other parties, especially noticeable on BBC Parliament. Why doesn't Labour just accept they are a racist party under Corbyn, also economically brain dead Marxist policies. UKLabour's bible helped push this crap.

Perhaps played a part but the result was a landslide.

huwbbc bbclaurak even the political parties see it.

Surely it was Diane Abbott’s left foot that was to blame?

It's everyone's fault but their own....

and he's fecking right

LK!

I don't care what anybody says, news organizations are not completely impartial. I mean, just by what they cover, what they air, for how long and in what order means it must be selective.

Correct

Blame is a killer

If it wasn't for the media corbyn would have been just irrelevant then as he is today

Yeah, by reporting on how god-awful they were as a party. If only they’d hidden that fact and said everything was brilliant, as everyone did on Twitter, then we’d maybe have a wonderful far left government today. Pity.

“Everyone else is to blame”

Can't argue with that, the Guardian played its part too.

Everyone and everything played A part, but the BBC were certainly not the catalyst.

What reporting on labour being terrible? Oh well better defund the wretched thing anyway just to be on the safe side

And the Tories won despite of the BBC.

Sounds like here. Media helped Trump win.

Really!!!

Can't wait to read the replies on the daily mail when they report this 👀🤣

Corbynistas - Always the victim, never their fault.
