BBC Today programme host John Humphrys caused uproar among listeners after claiming 'women are better' at taking care of children during a discussion on TV ads being banned for promoting gender stereotypes.

"And by and large, and this – maybe I will be attacked for this – you do a better job at it than men. At least in our experience, I would have thought. Isn’t that common sense?"

If called a mothers instinct and he 1billion %correct

How very dare he.

But it's true. Im a woman n I know this to be correct men dont have the same nuturing qualities as women do .Maybe if the men carried babies in their bodies for 9 months theyll become just as good as women

Not they aren't looking better.

Whaaaaaat!?!?! Someone had an opiiinion!!

Why is this sexist? He is correct

Jesus please! What is happening to this country if we can't state a fact without recriminations. It's ' true ' not that difficult ffs.

A completely correct, commonsense view. Cue mass hysteria and smelling salts among the usual suspects.

Just the fact that a mother is able to feed a child makes them 'better' at looking after babies? What is up with people analysing comments for the slightest issues?

This post just gives this archaic relic a form of relevance. A lot depends on the person man or woman looking after the child. So many factors to take into account. What a waste of taxpayers money

What rubbish. Endless sleep deprived nights made me look 10 years older after having my babies. No way did I get better looking! Their dad maintained about the same level of attractiveness as far as I can remember. 😉

They are. Not always, but generally, they are. It’s almost as if these neo liberals are trying to undo millennia of evolution in their pursuit of bloody mindedness

I think I was better looking but she had been in labour for thirty hours.

Yep it's a fact

True story.

Not sexist, just common sense, (often in short supply these days).

Not an exact science but having witnessed over many years would agree. What's the issue?

Probably are in general, men can be great too.

He probably wasn’t good with his babies as too busy being on the radio mouthing shite. Can’t he retire already and we put his prejudices in the dustbin of history

Suspect a lot of women think that. Suspect a lot of men think that. And in free speech UK you're allowed to say it. And to disagree. Celebrate.

And that’s his opinion Why do we think he’s right or wrong It’s his opinion and he’s entitled to voice it!

Of course they are . If men had the babies they’d probably be better at looking after them . People need to get a life here . There’s a hell of a lot worse going on .

No he didn't. He said seeing a woman with a baby was very nice and nothing to be ashamed of.
