BREAKING: The BBC has announced it has cancelled its seasonal Autumnwatch programme after 17 years.

More money will instead be invested into its sister programmes, although Winterwatch will be back next year for only one week, reduced from two.

A statement from the broadcaster said: ‘These are challenging times financially and we need to make difficult decisions and focus our resources on content that has the highest impact. ‘Sadly, this means that Autumnwatch will not be continuing. Instead, we are investing more money into Springwatch and‘We are incredibly proud of the Watches and would like to thank the presenters and production team who will continue on Springwatch when it returns in May for three weeks, and Winterwatch when it returns next year for one week, reduced from two weeks.

All they need to do now is cancel the legal theft the commit called the tv license now

Is spring watch and winter watch still going ahead

Let's hope one of the other channels will take it on

So.... was rubbish anyway

Disgraceful one of the only programmes my family look forward to. Brings the British wild life into your living room. Gain so much knowledge of wildlife from these presenters. BBC yet again not thinking of it's viewers. Just ticking the wokeness boxes

Scrap football let sky have it just cover euros and world cup

Absolutely disgusting. Sad to see it go

There are BBC programmes need scrapping but Autumn Watch. You have to be joking. After all , without wildlife and nature, knowing these things is crucial. our world would be a very different place. The way my licence fee is spent is important to me and I guess a lot of people.

No way disgusting of thr BBC. This is educational to all x

Because Chris is outspoken perhaps ? Bad news for the BBC and everyone who enjoys it.

That’s ridiculous decision it’s the one show my whole family will watch together

Extraordinary decision. I suppose they need more time to keep us all down and depressed by pouring out negative stories on politics, energy, and the cost of living. I hope another channel can sign the team up en bloc and keep it alive.

Aw no! What an absolute disaster! These shows have been must see viewing.

Why?

This is disgusting and is the type of show BBC should be showing. It is a really interesting show, so educational and full of information to help us protect our environment. SHAME ON THE BBC -less crap more decent programmes please - regards A Licence Payer! 😡

Nooo I’m gutted

Such a pity.... Needed now more than ever😥

😡 love all them full of information on our wildlife

BBC Proms will be next !

I think the probable reason is it’s not a programme they can sell on to Dave/Netflix / worldwide etc where they make revenue. If funding is reduced then anything that does not work as a sell on production is going to axed and this is a prime candidate, what next then …the news😎

Probably cause its not even spring yet

Good

These programmes are so educational for children if BBC 2 can't show it how about moving all three shows to BBC 1 instead of having dragons lair, repair shop, sewing bee etc etc

What an amazing programme and what a shame. This is something everyone, children and adults. Who makes these decisions 🙈

Such a shame!!! I hope they are replace it with another program that focuses on the UK nature & wildlife!

Let me guess, has it has been replaced by something of equal value in the educational field? A history of pottery making in the 16th century hosted by Sam Smith? The BBC forever f*cking up TV.

Pathetic pandering to the countryside alliance who can't stand anything that challenges their domain. They will probably replace it with some garbage that's not fit to be in a bin

God forbid we get to keep well made educational shows such as this. Probably to be replaced with more sport or another sub par period drama or worse, yet another reality show. BBC really is just circling the drain now.

No. Love this programme

No way!!

Good it was shite

How will I know when it's autumn now :/

What on earth, whyyyyyyyy

This is so very sad as yet another educational show gets sacrificed for the other trash efforts millions are wasted upon. 😢 notright thinkagain

Not happy I love them all so interesting finding out about the birds and animals we share our space with. Please think again.

What’s that? Lol

Get rid of match of the day as well then 🤣👌

Shame they couldn't save the kids that they knew Saville was touching

Shame wildlife needs help wiith the dirty litter slobs and greenvelt land going .

THE ONLY REASON TO SWITCH ON THE DREADFUL CHANNEL

I

at least we won’t have listen to Chris Packham’s drivel

Terrible decision!! saveautumnwatch

But why ? What a stupid decision

Thank God! I stopped watching when they decided to get rid of The Legend that is BillOddie 🐦 🦜 🦚 🌳 🦆🦉🐌🦋🐞🌱🌿🍃

Real shame, pretty much the only program on BBC that I watch, along with springwatch and winterwatch.

Should completely replace Winterwatch with a two week Summerwatch when all the insects and predators are out enjoying themselves and ChrisGPackham wouldn't freeze his wotnots off.

Noooooo

Will you miss Autumnwatch?

Teachers' strikes: Thousands of schools face disruption - BBC NewsMore than 100,000 teachers could join industrial action in England and Wales, the NEU union says. My daughter's nursery is closed today and I fully support them. We need to get away from feeling it's only about me and more about us. The Tories coild have stopped every strike going ahead but chose to do nothing. All they did do was make it harder to strike. Brexit I swear 🙄🙄 My son is gutted that his school have made his year group go in and others stay at home!
