Charlie Stayt, the beloved BBC Breakfast presenter, is well known for his successful broadcasting career, having worked with Sky News, ITN and Channel 5 before joining the BBC. He's a familiar face on our screens during the latter part of the week, often seen alongside co-host Naga Munchetty, and has even stepped in when colleagues couldn't make it to the iconic red sofa for the early morning shows.
Although starting out in radio, Charlie was later bitten by the TV bug and began working for ITN in 1995 before joining Five News as a reporter. After proving to be a firm hit with fans, Charlie was then promoted to the network's prime-time bulletins and half-hour live debate programmes. The couple tied the knot back in 1995, but they're notoriously private, sharing very little about their personal lives. Around the time they got hitched, Charlie kick-started his career, landing a role as a reporter at Five News on Channel 5.
How much does Charlie earn? Charlie Stayt has earned himself an impressive pay-cheque according to the most recent BBC salary report, raking in a whopping £190,000. That's more than his ex-colleague, Louise Minchin, who was making £185,000 before she bid farewell to the series in 2021.
