BBC announces surprise Strictly Come Dancing special as the hit competition series celebrates its...

The hit Latin and ballroom show first aired on 15 May 2004 and in honour of the anniversary, the broadcaster has commissioned a one-off special that will delve into the history of the programme.

'Throughout its 20-year history, the show has launched careers, sparked trends, and touched the hearts of millions with its dazzling performances, emotional journeys, and unforgettable moments and we will be showcasing it all in this very special programme.

'We want viewers to join us in raising a toast to 20 years of sparkle and shine in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.' Debbie McGee competed on the show in 2017 and explained that the show gave her 'confidence' in herself after her famous husband Paul Daniels died of a sudden brain tumour. Magician's assistant Debbie McGee who was Giovannni's celebrity partner on the show in 2017,admitted the show helped her in the months after the death of her husband Paul Daniels
