A protest that took place outside a school after a teacher showed a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed in a class was 'completely unacceptable', the Department for Education has said

On Thursday evening, the DfE spokesperson said:"It is never acceptable to threaten or intimidate teachers. We encourage dialogue between parents and schools when issues emerge.

Head teacher Gary Kibble said on Thursday:"The school unequivocally apologises for using a totally inappropriate image in a recent religious studies lesson. It should not have been used. A police officer read a statement from Batley Grammar as protesters shouted that they wanted the member of staff"sacked".

In a letter addressed to Mr Kibble and shared online, founder of Batley-based charity Purpose Of Life, Mohammad Sajad Hussain, said he was"deeply hurt" by the"insulting caricatures of our beloved Prophet Mohammed".Yunus Lunat, an executive member of the Indian Muslim Welfare Society in Batley, told Sky News he thinks the teacher"went off script" and was trying to"provoke".

Dry your eyes. Where’s your outrage and protests about children being groomed by Asian gangs?

So we can't teach re in schools now in case some religions or believers of imaginary friends as I call them get upset jog on then this is a Christian country where all religions are taught not just the 1 you belive in

No distancing. A lot with no masks. A lot of shouting. But no action. Where is the police action like Clapham Common. One rule for one. Embarrassing.

Who the fuck do they think they are. Really gets on yer tits when you get people asking for the teacher to be sacked and now has to have police protection. joke.

Deploy the army to disperse these idiots that are happy to riot over a fairytale🤬

The religion of peace at its best. They will be lucky if they don't end up beheaded, like Islamics always do

And for what 😳

Why are so many of these parents not either in lockdown like the rest of us or at work?

Why have religious education as part of the curriculum in schools at all. Adults can make their own decisions about their spiritual life.

Well Mo is a bit of a cunt tbh 🤷🏻‍♂️

JeSuisCharlie

A second protest is being planned apparently. Unacceptable? The head has done everything to placate and apologise. Further intimidation of teachers and students should not be accepted. What more do they want. The iman has a job as community leader to keep things reasonable.

Round em up ship em back

Imagine being outraged because someone drew a cartoon of your imaginary friend

Mainly men if not all shouting etc some wearing hoodies etc & chanting loudly outside a school must be very intimidating, scary & disturbing to the younger students yep ask to see the head etc make your feelings known to whoever what’s that it’s blasphemy ?!? 👀💭🤔🤷‍♂️😷

Where’s the police Where’s the consistency

Hope they’ve all had their vaccine injections

Have these fools even looked at the cartoons or are they protesting without seeing them if the latter are total idiots

Batley Grammar School: Is Prophet Mohammed caricature offensive or freedom of expression?Protests outside a Yorkshire school over a teacher showing a class a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed have sparked a conversation about freedom of expression, religious freedoms and what is appropriate to show and teach children Maybe in a religious school they can be offended all they want, not in a public school. Boring an irrelevant what you gunna be popping up Protesting next that people are smiling are people are happy are people are upset are people are just people get over it for god sake pathetic I understand why the Muslim community feel offended and would not add salt to that wound by sharing or depicting any such material personally. However, in a secular society, we are free to examine, critique, analyze and even mock religion. The context of this case was to support
