Barry Ferguson sees Rangers people in charge who know what is required

The rest of us are about to put the world on pause. Over the course of the next month or so it will probably begin to feel as if we’re spending our whole lives at the Euros.

Bisgrove may have had his critics over the years but I got to know him reasonably well and I found him an impressive individual. I was disappointed to see him leave because I liked and respected the guy but, as we’ve seen with players over the last couple of years, when the Middle East comes calling, the money they throw around can be head spinning.

It would be unrealistic to think that the chairman will get everything tied up before Clement and his new-look squad is back on the training ground. We all know the transfer market can be a difficult place to negotiate and sometimes you’re kept waiting all the way to the last minute on deadline day to get the one you want. But the aim will be to get around two thirds of Clement’s targets tied up and ready to get on the grass for the first day of the manager’s preparations.

But I also felt a real determination to do something serious about it. We all know that Celtic are going to hit the jackpot in European football’s richest competition next season but Rangers also have a chance of joining them there through the qualifiers. The obvious fear is that Celtic could disappear over the horizon now that they’re about to pile another fortune into the bank.
