A terminally-ill dad says he is amazed after being honoured with a street art mural of his arrest last week that could be by Banksy.Video of the incident showed how he was held down on the ground by police and handcuffed.
It shows a colourful Bart Simpson mooning in front of two black and white police officers in full riot gear with batons, in graffiti on an underpass near the Waterside Pub in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Describing the arrest, he said: ‘They saw me as a big fellow. They maybe perceived me as a threat, but because of my illnesses a five-year-old child could knock me over.‘They could have killed me very easily and even when I calmly explained the situation, they carried on restraining me and cuffing me from behind.
Inspired by the original story, the anonymous artist told Darrell that the police were purposely painted in black to represent the ‘disproportionate use of force’ and the ‘dark and oppressive nature of the police’, while Bart Simpson was depicted as ‘cheeky, comical and playful’.It is suspected to be a Banksy ‘Many people will be able to see this now – it is really cleverly done.‘My, wife and two kids went down there and had some pictures taken.
