Sarah* told us her friends were due to get married in April, then postponed to September and now, not wanting to delay again, are inviting more than 90 people to a reception party.
‘I assumed the plan was to enjoy a bigger celebration whenever that might be possible – but then she let me know that, while only immediate family would be invited to the actual ceremony, she’s asking 90 people to the reception. 90 people isn’t really a compromise – that’s still quite a big wedding. ‘She was supposed to get married in the Caribbean this year, obviously Coronavirus had other plans,’ she told Grazia. ‘She's one of the lucky ones, the wedding is still going ahead but many of the guests aren't able to attend, so she's having a ceremony at her house in London too.
What an irresponsible article! You should celebrate those who've had to adapt thier days to fit guidelines or talk about the 1000's of couples/suppliers impacted. Selfish people going ahead in large numbers will ruin it for the rest of us. It's disgusting. whataboutweddings
I thought your publication was supposed to be aimed at women? This article is atrocious. Where is the understanding for a sector which has been completely obliterated? How about the fact that two people make a wedding and not just a bride. This is sexist, and disappointing.
Good for them for taking stand & to anyonr else saying “NO” to current draconian levels of control. “Don’t do this. Do that”. “Stand here, Not there”. For goodness sake. Next you’ll be telling us “how /when to breath” Then naming and shaming us for any flouting of the rules.
Fake News Media once again showing its true colours. True journalism ceases to exsist. This is yet another prime example. Of scripted narrative which is designed to create fear, shame, & division amongst ordinary folk. Trying to bring a semblance of normality to their lives
Really? You stayed silent when we needed you the most but now this is how you choose to show “support” Low blow
Please tell me how this helps? How about providing solutions to problems, show couples how to have a safe wedding that is still fun? How about supporting the wedding sector that is on its knees? Let me know if you want to talk about this responsibly whataboutweddings
Is this a joke ? How about an article supporting the tens of thousands of small businesses who make up the fabric of the entire wedding industry, all faced without income for a year, all selflessly providing support to distraught couples? Sort it out. whataboutweddings
Help the Wedding Industry out and support couples that have had to cut their weddings to just 30 guests. My Bride at the end of this Month will now not have her two sisters or maid of honour present due to new quarantine rules when coming from France. This article is beneath you
This sort of piece does nothing to help the thousands of businesses who have lost their entire income for the best part of a year. It does nothing to help the thousands of couples who have postponed & worried about their weddings. Maybe write about this & do something positive!
You’re discussing the wrong wedding topic. Instead of scandalising one couples choices, how about highlighting the very real struggle the majority of couples and suppliers are facing, trying to do the right thing with no support at all?! whataboutweddings
Hope ‘Sarah’ selfish gets Covid19 as a guest.
