After a close battle at the start, Max Verstappen built a comfortable lead and won a wet sprint race at the AustrianGP. Provisional sprint race results: 1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) 2. Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) 3. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)

Lando Norris knocked Friday and Saturday’s qualifying out of the park, and he fought his way through the field after being collateral damage in Verstappen and Pérez’s early battle. His car has the upgrades this weekend, and it is still a wait-and-see scenario with McLaren given that the sprint race isn’t a full grand prix distance. But there seems to be reason for fans to be optimistic.

“We also don’t need to make this a big story. It’s what happens sometimes, we clear it and it’s fine,” Verstappen said. “That’s how human beings work.”What Pérez had to say about the opening lap incident “I didn’t see him there. I had a really bad Turn 1, so I tried to protect. Once I realized he was there, I opened up the door and gave the place back into Turn 2. But yeah, it’s all fine. We just talked about it.”
