At Oswald Dixon’s funeral I saw this country’s capacity for solidarity, says Guardian columnist Gary Younge

As Oswald Dixon was laid to rest in Salford on Wednesday the heavens wept. One hundred years old and with no traceable family, when he died on 25 September the staff at his care home feared no one would come to his funeral. They put out an appeal for mourners. And on a rainswept midweek afternoon about 300 showed up.

I never learnt about Windrush in history at school! Why not? I never realised that those who came, actually came to build the Britain of today that so many others claim these people stole! This is far more important than dates of kings or Romans!

As for the case of Nigel_Farage it would seem a significant proportion actually support it... Racism WeCanDoBetter
