Joanne Lang, who works in the Farnworth store in Bolton, was working by the self scan checkouts when a boy, aged around two to three-years-old, began choking on a gummy snake sweet. According to Manchester Evening News, Joanne quickly sprang into action to save the boy, who was sitting in a trolley.
Joanne Lang said: "It was just pure instinct. It all happened very quickly, but at the time it seemed like forever. "His mum was in shock. She thanked me and then they left. I had a little breather and then went back to work," she added. Now, Joanne has been nominated for the Asda service superstar award by Rita Charleston, the Customer Trading Manager. Rita said: “What she did was absolutely amazing, she single-handedly saved that child from choking. The situation could have had a very different outcome if it wasn't for Joanne.”
"It was shocking that's why I never allowed my kids to have boiled sweets or lollies when they were young. I still don't eat them myself absolute dangerous sweets."
