Article 50: Why delaying Brexit is not as straightforward as you think

It sets out that a departing member state will leave on the implementation of a withdrawal agreement, or two years after it has notified the EU of its intention to exit.Mrs May triggered Article 50, giving official notice of the UK's departure from the EU, on 29 March 2017. This means the UK is scheduled to formally leave the bloc on 29 March this year.If the PM is instructed by MPs to delay Brexit, this then throws up the question of how long for.

Both Germany and France, the EU's two most influential member states, have signalled a willingness to extend Article 50. And Ireland's deputy prime minister, Simon Coveney, has said Dublin would also likely agree. Brussels has looked on with exasperation at the turmoil that has engulfed British politics since Mrs May brought back her deal in November.Barnier: 'Brexit impasse can only be solved in UK'

He said:"What will their choice be, what will be the line they will take? That is the question we need a clear answer to now. That is the question that has to be answered before a decision on a possible further extension.

Get her out to for God sake

The answer is simple, no delay leave on the 29th march, follow the instruction from the people, LeaveMeansLeave

Only brexitiers seem to think it’s easy. uneducated

hammond has already warned about higher prices , jobs lost and stuff so u know the tories really want this no deal as it will be auk well austerity and strength is needed again . its all bullshit they going to screw us all over bar the rich

Is it me ,it’s just with all this dicking about all I can think about is the comedy “yes minister” dodgy deals going on in the background 🤔

Sly smile. Done 2 lots of hoodwinking today already. Either very thick MPS or this woman has a mega high IQ?

Well there’s no delay so why the story

You are dishonest may very much dishonest you did this right from the start for yourself because you’re at your remaining

Stupid woman

None of this is straight forward. The whole thing is a shambles. The people who run this country have made a right pigs ear of this... time for a job change for the lot of them.

No shit! Voting on a ballot paper isn't straight forward either anymore. Vote leave? Vote remain? However you vote this will be subject to change depending on how people in power feel about it.

She's had 2 years to make a deal. Too busy kissing up to the DUP..and now they are running from her.

We are staying in the EU.

Hopefully the eu will not except an extension and we still leave on March the 29th

it will take as long as it takes to cheat the people

If only we could bring back the Lord Protector of this once great nation. Parliament - Voted by the people, for the people, to serve THE people. Not themselves! It would appear Guy Fawkes had a very good point Ladies and Gentlemen!!

Well it is about finding the longest avenue, the best shock resistant can and the most durable football boots. Not an easy task.

She should ignore the MP’s motion brought forward tonight just as those MP’s have ignored the result of the referendum

traitors

Our kids will get caught up in the shit storm that’s coming !!! The 3 Jaffa’s won’t be effected May Merkel Macron

Remainer MPs should be paying the extra cost out of their own pockets

But rescinding A50 before 29/3 is comparatively quite simple.

Brexit anyway. Just go for it, fulfill the will of the people and consequences be damned.

Why extending Article 50 could be inevitable - and the consequences of delaying BrexitExpectations are mounting that Brexit could be delayed amid the continuing impasse in Parliament over the best way forward. Could have pretty much guaranteed parliament would find a way to screw this up again. It seems the referendum was advisory after all. What a Waste of 2/3 years of news. All May intends to do is to drag us all the way, down this rugged, broken and rusty EU. She has no intentions of ever giving Britons the democracy we crave for. I say she deserves to lose her job. Opinion: Theresa May’s deal is already dead – we have no choice but to extend Article 50But a three month extension period is too short. We can’t let the prime minister use the cliff edge to push her bad deal through parliament How about a new referendum? Just revoke A50. That’ll do it. The most sensible choice would be to RevokeA50
