The shortcomings of British managers are being targeted in the Budget and also by a senior adviser to the Scottish government.
Managing their way through the current crisis is proving, for many, to be the toughest task they have ever undertaken. As for going back to school, many bosses think business class is only for air travellers. Unlike many other countries, learning the right skill-set for managing has not been necessary for climbing the British career ladder.
Mr Higgins was commissioned by Scottish ministers last year to produce a post-Covid recovery blueprint. "In some ways, this challenge is ironic since several of our universities operate management schools of international distinction. In this time of unprecedented challenge, this is a national asset that must be deployed for greater impact on the economy. These issues have previously been highlighted by the Enterprise and Skills Board; but an effective solution which operates at scale does not appear to be in place.
Over paid talking heads..
Better question, is PM, government, opposition and all politicians up to job? Generally probably not!
No
Depends on the job doesn’t it.
Of course not, they make decisions based on getting their bonus and not expected to stick around to deal with their terrible cost cuts or relocation decisions. I work for one and can say the latest CEO is the worst but will walk away with a big fat bonus.
You just have to look at the Tories for an answer.
No, next question?
Plain and simle No
Just look at the messages coming out of the CMI- much is around diversity. I believe their messaging should all (100%) be about competence.
No
very rarely. usually they are just robots operating the management by spreadsheet program. They can easily be replaced by an AI . There 10 layers of management gone !
Defund them now shut BBC down its a thorn in publics side we don't need
There’s a real lack of staff development in the UK throughout all sectors, but then that’s just another failure of capitalism.
The bosses of the BBC are definitely not up to the job. The entire corporation needs dismantling & the fat controllers at the top never allowed in the industry ever again.
No
In regards to the current global economic-model, that perpetuates inequality/poverty/greed/war/famine/death/disease/rockets-to-mars/ and charities to refurbish the rich.. YES..!!! 🤑🤝😈💩💩💩🙄
Nope.
No - and we can start with your own managers and ‘Directors’ first please BBC!
No. The vast majority of senior management I’ve come across in the last 10 years has been very poor. Too many senior managers in positions where they have very little experience. Most senior management in the building sector have never been through a housing correction!
So who decides that exactly?
Most are great. Some lazy 'boses' are using COVID19 or Brexit as an excuse for their own failings. They used to be known as 'losers'.
Capitalism is not up to the job. Bosses should not exist.
No just look at the Tory government, they only got the job because they supported Johnsons Brexit, that why they are useless at what they do, most have been sacked from previous mi istria jobs
Are you up to the job? Do you hold the Government to account? Do you report fairly and without bias? We all have to look at ourselves first? Do we pick and choose which news to report?
Very, very few.
Mine is - perhaps one of the few.
No, and they're also being failed by parents and teachers. Creating generation after generation of weak wristed, whinge bags who think the world owes them something.
Have some faith in your countrymen
The ones in Westminster aren't
