Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was second in the UK and US box office charts last weekend, behind The Batman
Anime is known for its distinctive style using bold colours, pronounced and expressive facial features, and far-out storylines. It deals with themes from growing up to the importance of friendship, often along with graphic violence and some sexual undertones. Directed by Sunghoo Park, it has more graphic violence than some previous Japanese animations as a result of its darker themes and tone.
Dr Yoshioka believes it is "the complexity and difference from Western visual media that attract young people to anime". For a growing number of parents, they may wonder whether the content their children are watching is appropriate.

Honestly I have not watched anime in decades, the last movie I watched was ninja scroll. After that the big eyed, cute looking shrill voiced characters just completely turned me off & I never went back.
No thanks.
It's partly down to anime/manga catering to every taste/genre/etc & partly down to the western comic/animation industry failing to keep up.

Manga’s been around since the 80’s. Japanese anime is as good then as it is now. Western audiences have just been slow on the uptake.
