A former Royal Marine who founded an animal shelter in Kabul left an expletive-laden message for a government aide as he sought to place his staff and pets onThe Times newspaper said it had obtained a leaked audio recording of Paul “Pen” Farthing berating Peter Quentin,Farthing’s campaign to get workers and animals from the Nowzad shelter out ofAlthough visas were granted for his 24 staff and their dependents, Farthing refused to leave without his pets and aimed to get 200 dogs and cats out of...
Pretty low blow this, . Rather than trying to smear him, perhaps you could demonstrate some support for a man who served 22 yrs in the Forces & did everything he could to bring his staff & their families to safety. They'd have ALL been here last week but for the MOD.
PM and Foreign Minister on Holiday, 5000 emails from MPs and charities unread, PM lying about evacuation numbers, vehicles not people being flown out and the Guardian toes the Tory line with misleading story about ex marine losing temper when his people are in harms way - really?
Shame on you for trying to discredit Pen. I didn’t think this govt could sink any lower. Pen Farthing, his staff, 26 children, & the animals, were under extreme threat of death and THIS is the story you print!
'Threatened' aka used the only language the Tories understand - the possibility of bad publicity. And the Tories leaked this in yet another effort to create a straw villain we will all blame for the utter disaster we have seen unfold in Afghanistan instead of the true culprits.
So what? Anything wrong with the message?
Quit calling them “pets”
Shame he wasn’t working for the Foreign Office
Good on him, about time someone stood up to this pathetic and vile govt
Really? Just stop it already!!!
This is a complete none story! Man who’s life is on the line uses a few choice words towards that weasel advisor that is blocking the evacuation. Damn right! His only focus was saving innocent lives
Pen Farthing is one of the most compassionate, well respected and bravest of people. He is ex military, he doesn’t take any BS from anyone - let alone those that are risking the life of his team and his rescues.
Good
jmkarg aletimartinez fedegvazquez juan_elman Para la intro?
good !!!!!
Dear Guardian - why are you publishing this non story and dancing to the Tory tune - ? If he used some choice language to push some lazy complacent MoD officials who put him and his staff in danger - he did what needed to be done - good on him.
“Operation Ark” campaign distracted them from focusing on their job?! Really! So, now, if there is any criticism of their handling of the evacuation, it's the dogs' fault. How slimy!
Most of our government and its ministers are shameful and incompetent. They need a rude awakening.
And? What’s the point of the article
There was no need for the gov to play games with peoples lives. I would be really angry too. Let's not forget the context here - Kabul is the most dangerous place on earth right now.
I say worse than that when someone steals my phone charger.
He's now bizarrely reached cult like status
A true king.
thanks
well the UK govt abandoned over 100 British nationals at around 1000 Afghans so why should we be surprised the govt was blocking this flight?
GOOD Save those animals FFS
What a loonie tunes.
