An open-world Final Fantasy 16 ‘would’ve taken 15 years to make’, claims producer | VGC

FF is going the wrong direction. It needs a true open world real bad like Elden Ring. 15 years? 😂 FF15’s open world was a huge failure, I think that’s why they stopped making open world.

That's fine. When it comes to JRPGs I infinitely prefer 'wide linear' games like FF12 or DQ11.

Glad they chose this over the tedium of modern open world games.

No need for every game to be open world the reason why ff7 remake is so epic is because devs created ach area with care

I'm glad it isn't! Open World games largely feel like busy work. The best ones are smaller ones such as the Nier games or the open zone type model of FF12. Elden ring is an outlier purely because it doesn't EVER require you do complete anything outside of the main 'quest'.
