'For how long should a teen be held accountable for their worst moments, and to what purpose?' 📝 David Myers

, “We could avoid two-thirds of all crime simply by putting all able-bodied young men [who commit most violent crimes] in cryogenic sleep from the age of 12 through 28.” Lykken would not have been shocked that the Buffalo and Uvalde massacres were both at the hands of 18-year-olds.The best predictor of future behavior is recent past behaviors, which by all accounts have been peaceable for Ho.

Presented with these arguments, Michigan circuit court Judge Denise Langford Morris commended Ho’s attorneys for the best case she had heard in support of a juvenile murderer’s parole. She complimented Ho on his exemplary prison behavior and encouraged him to complete his college work and continue on to graduate study.

The same week Ming Ho’s sentence was extended, Seattle Superior Court Judge Janet Helson offered an opposite answer, by releasing

If they commit murder sentence to death. If they commit armed robbery give them 20 years:

A few years back, we were told Brett Kavanaugh was disqualified from the Supreme Court for what he MIGHT have done as a drunken 17 year old. Many of the same people, like Kamala Harris, also endorsed criminal justice reform. Complete hypocrisy.

Yes the parents need to be punished as well.

Don’t ask Associate Justice Coors Lite. Things he did as a teenager seem to not be used against his adult life.

Mistakes are an opportunity to learn . Learn the lesson & move on. Depends on the age/maturity of the tee but fundamentally, an arm around the shoulder ; a hug & words of encouragement a good start ?

Hmm, your thoughts on the Covington kids?

A juvenile, except for serious violent offenses, is damaged much more by the social and civil consequences for crimes than by incarceration. Employers don't distinguish between juvenile and adult criminal histories and neither do Federal programs.

How long should the punishment be for this ‘kid’?

Some deserve to be tried as adults

Call momma you and me woo hoo

Audrey you are first call me and we plan you first. It's not your school

Make the parents accountable? If there isn't sufficient consequences for someone's actions, what's stopping them committing crimes? Surely the victims have rights also?

Violating the 8th amendment

Unfortunately actions can't be undone. People, young people, need to be taught this truth.

525,600 minutes

From age 4 to age 104.

Totally dependent on the harm it caused other people.

Especially when one is tried as an adult. That doesn't make any sense.

I knew at 15 while stealing cars if caught I'm gunna do time, not too long a stint tho,& I did. I was also very aware that if i killed someone while joyriding I'm gunna go away for a long time,so I didn't kill anyone, thankfully. Point is I was very aware of the consequences,at 15

Saying it's 'all wrong', yet use the usual troupes of redemption any prison appeals board loves to hear -- like finding religion. Yep, reeks of ACLU -- like during the Atlanta spa killings, crying about sex workers better pay, before their bodies were even cold.

Someone has to be held responsible. If not the teens then maybe the parents? Crime has victims, the perpetrators arent the them.

How long does the victim have to pay for the perpetrators mistake?

Yes. Parents should share the punishment.

You mean how the shitty parents be held accountable.

Here is the prophecy of the Lord God: let it become dark.

They appear to just be immediately let back out to do more crime

Depends on the crime. Sometimes for life.

Depends on how bad their worst moments actually were.

Where i grew up people over the age of 14 where always tried as adults and went to regular prison.

A system that has failed and broken to many…

Are you experts on the subject? Who made you the authority of how this country handles anything? What's wrong is the media telling everyone they have to listen to the narratives they push. Less telling more reporting. This isn't reporting. Thanks. 👍

Hold Kyle Rittenhouse forever

Depends on the crime. Violent people will always be violent. No breaks for them.

For how long… 🧐

It should be more about creating structure, doing better, and learning how to become a benefit to society as a whole while finding a positive way to persue happiness.

Depends but no more than 4 months. They're still kids they're still learning and a mistake shouldn't be a life sentence if you know how the system is.

How long will we focus on children, as if, all humans are born with the knowledge and abilities to make no mistake? Instead of addresing neglectful, careless parents. Failing educators and mentors. Easier to pretend adults always know better, when we never truly know it all.

Depends on a few factors. Severity of the act, was it more than once and mental health of the individual.

Does anyone know if the first policemen in America were appointed or were they interviewed and hired? Are there any records to show the eligibility requirements to be appointed or hired as a policeman back then?

Depends on the severity of the crime. Teenage joy riding does not come close to murder and mutilation!

They should be accountable for their actions from the time they learn how to walk, and should be under the same laws as an adult.
